Chest pain. Is there something wrong with me?

Question:
Recently every so often, around once a week I get a sharp pains in my chest which will last for between a minute and 10 minutes.

I'm a 19 year old female, light smoker and my heart beat is about 65 bpm.

Sometimes the chest pains cause me to have trouble breathing.. and on more than one occasion going outside for 'fresh air' has made the pain worse.

Answers:
It could be indigestion, believe it or not.

I had a friend who went to the hospital for chest pains and it turned out to be just that. But you should see a doctor to be sure.
ya you have chest pains
yes
see a dr.
GO SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY NOW!!!!!
You seriously need to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as you possibly can. Chest pains and difficulty breathing are not something that should be taken lightly. It's possible you have a heart murmur, or a prolapsed valve, or maybe even something far more serious. Make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you can.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. :-)
Chst pains need to be checked out by a dr. If they find no cause for the pain, then no worry. Chest pains just below the sternum could be caused by the gall bladder. If you have gas in the gi tract, it can make you hurt at lower border of the ribs. Eliminate the worst & then concentrate on minor causes.
Maybe angina? esp if you have pain in the breast bone, left arm or jaw and its worse in cold weather, following a meal, moving from a warm room into a cold one. stress including bad dreams can also trigger it. Variant angina can occur while you are at rest.
I say visit your doctor.
My doctor told me that if the pain is worse when you breathe in, but improves when you exhale, and you find you are afraid to breathe in because that makes the pain worse, then it's almost certainly a muscle spasm in the chest muscles (the most common reason for this kind of complaint). If it were something to do with your heart, the pain would be the same whether you were inhaling, exhaling, or holding your breath.

If, as in my case, it's a muscle spasm, it's completely harmless. If the pain is constant (ie doesn't change between inhaling and exhaling) then I'd definitely see your doctor.
well it could be simply stress, or heartburn, it could be also from smoking, try to avoid cigarettes, foe a while and eat more healthier, fruits, vegetable, fish , water..etc..avoid fried food , , tomato sauce..you should be fine do not worry
It sounds like youve been getting esophageal spasms. Esophageal spasms can cause a sharp pain in your chest like what you describe with shortness of breath. And taking a deep breath in can actually make the pain worse. It can feel like an attack of Angina, or even a heart attack. I suggest you rule out any possible cardiac problems first by visiting your doctor and getting an ecg an echo and a chest x-ray to be on the safe side. I would also suggest a full blood work up to rule out any other illneses that can cause chest pain { like for example Hyperthyroidism}. If everything is normal then It is very likely that you do have esophageal spasms and you should be reffered to a Gastroenterologist . Hope you feel better soon.
