How long does it take to bounce back from gallbladderr surgery?

Question:
I'm have the gallbladder surgery w/ the 4 incisions (instead of getting cut open) and I wanted to know how will I feel afterward, what am I allowed to eat and when can I start going back to the gym? Also, will I lose any weight?

Answers:
A friend had that surgery recently. She was at home, doing nothing for a week. She changed her diet completely and lost 17 pounds in a month. The suture line is hideous and she is very slowly resuming exercise. Good luck to you.

Give yourself time !
Use the time away from the gym to read up on nutrition, yoga, relaxation and new workouts.
More than likely you will feel nausea after the surgery, as they use Carbon Dioxide to insufulate your abdominal region.
In addition, there is always a possiblity, that they cannot do it laproscopicly, and will have to remove it by cutting you open.
If they do it the former way, you should be back to normal in about a week.
If the do it the latter way, you are looking at several weeks.
most patients are usually be ambulatory within 24-48 hours postop (that however depends on your constitution and how your body reacts to the anesthetic--my ex GF has a weak constitution so she still felt crummy even after 7 days)

you have to eat low fat and low salt food (im assuming that yoiu were operated on for gallstones, which is related to high salt and fat intake, with low water intake); otherwise you can still eat a regular diet

the tensile strength of the 4 incisions are usually strong enough after about a week. You can go back to the gym by then.

A gallbladder operation will not help you lose weight.
Had the surgery 7 years ago, best move I ever did. I was completely over it a week later except had to watch what I lifted. Gym maybe 4 weeks or so later. Only experienced pain the night of the surgery while the drainage tube was left in overnight but felt heaps better when removed. One week later I was back to a normal housewife with a newborn baby, a one year old and a two year old and feeling great. I lost no weight over it. No severe pain after surgery - just "uncomfortably annoying" pain. Could since then eat anything I wanted without going to hospital in agony! Good luck - it will be worth it when done.
My mother had gallbladder surgery a few months ago and she returned to her normal activity after 2 weeks. She felt sore afterwards but recovered farely quickly. It all depends on how easily the surgery goes and how well you take pain. I think you have to be careful about what you eat after the first couple of days but that's it (I don't know specifically what diet).
