I believe the final stages of cancer is the most painful condition a person can experience.
I've had many surgeries and I have to list them as the worst pain I have ever felt, and Fibromyalgia as the second.
Hi,
As a nurse I have been told that passing a kidney stone is on a similar level to childbirth. The pain is excruciating and difficult to control.
Have you tried Ponstan for period cramps they are very effective.
I have heard that burns are sheer agony, there is no respite from them until they are pretty well healed, which can take months and sometimes years.Apparently, liver cancer is also very painful. Thankfully, I have had neither. My worst painful experience was when I was a wee girl and suffered from earache for about four years(on and off)
yes, period pain can be bad, but it last only few days, it is a cycle which come & goes. the worst pain I suffered was when I have shingles. It went on & on continuously for months and months. the pain relief was never good enough.holding ice in the effected arm provide a little comfort, rash can go away but pain from damaged nerves last a life time.
Getting kicked in the balls. Makes you vomit with pain!
there is so many painful conditions out there and I'm sure the person who is suffering thinks it is the worst pain ever .i have suffered quite a few illnesses that have been painful but i am suffering now with something that is so painful i feel like that there is no light in sight ...i have just been told i was given the wrong diagnosis after 7 months so now have to start with a load more of tests but no matter how i am feeling there is always someone worse off.
My worst acute pain would be kidney stones. Worst chronic pain would be a damaged spinal cord that creates a phantom pain in my leg that feels like it's in boiling oil 24/7. Thank god for pain meds. RScott
You think period pain is bad?
God you should try living with Arthritis. Particulalry when ur 21, and you've ogt it in you're spine, neck, hips, knees and toes. No pain meds work, and ur getting worse!
I say the last stages cancer could be the most painful mentally and physically. Only because it is long term. I don't have it but working in a hospital and seeing people with cancer and how much pain they go through that has to be the one. My heart goes out to them, that shows true strength. As for the worst pain I personally have ever felt was probably dislocating my knee and breaking my ankle at the same time.
I have quite a few:
Period pain - I agree. I fainted once. I find it hard to stand up etc.
Having your braces tightened.
Ingrowing toenails.
Having your legs waxed when you have shaven all your life.
Dislocated hip.
Burns, e.g. I burnt myself with a baking tray and that hurts.
Astroturf burns.
Friction/carpet burns.
When you do loads of exercise and then the next day your muscles ache.
Hunger pains, if you haven't eaten all day and you get an excruciating stomach pain.
Cramp.
Shock after exercise.
Growing pains.
Being rejected hurts.
Heart break.
Loss.
Wanting something you can't have.
[I spend most of my life in pain, these are just a few I have felt!]
Not knowing why you are in pain can often hurt more then other things.
It is a matter of opinion.
Toothache and earache.
and Brain Freeze lol
Its proven that back pain and lung pain are tho most painful ailments, however I believe that a good sore tooth can prove that wrong
Sorry period pain is not in the top three. These are, in no particular order : Pain from a heart attack, childbirth and renal colic.
Trigeminal neuralgia and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.
The most pain I have ever felt was childbirth, which I'd rate an absolute 10/10. Second to that dodgy gallbladder probably 8 or 9 out of 10 painwise.
I don't doubt for a moment that there are more painful things to suffer, but I sure hope I never experience them.
I would say chronic low back pain is the worst pain as there is no relief from it and the pain persists constantly day and night, getting worse with movement, such as standing and walking. I take morphine daily for long term pain and I'm only 28 and still I have pain. This has gone on so long now that I regularly contemplate suicide and can see no light at the end of the tunnel.
Sustained pain - an abscess - the type that needs sugical intervention in certain, uncomfortable areas. I've heard of women claiming that childbirth is a walk in the park in comparison.
