Too much water?
Question:
Answers:
Yes there is a condition called water intoxication. It occurs if too much water is drunk, particularly very quickly. Also if a loot of sweat is lost by exertion In a hot environment and the fluid is replaced by water, rather than balanced electrolyte solution. The problem is basically that body salts become diluted.
Water intoxication is occasionally fatal! Nearly all deaths related to water intoxication in normal individuals have resulted either from water drinking contests, in which individuals attempt to consume several gallons over the course of just a few minutes, or long bouts of intensive exercise during which time electrolytes are not properly replenished, yet massive amounts of fluid are still consumed.

Too much water can dilute your glucose and salt levels so you need to ensure that you keep your salt and sugar levels up as well. My boyfriend collapsed last year because he drank too much water and this was the result. He ended up in hospital.
Yes, there has been 2 cases in CA that were well publicized.. one was a hazing up in Chico where they made a student drink a lot of water and he died. The second was a radio contest in Sacramento, the girl won but went home said she felt terrible and instead of calling 911 she died. The radio DJ's got fired for it. Remember these people were drinking gallons of water. 8-8ozs a day is not toxic.. or extra if your doing a job that you are sweating alot.. but gatorade might be better to replace the electrolights you lose from sweat.
No of course not
although drinking too mcuh water isn't bad for you
its not that good for you either,
Becuase your urine comes out looking clear [like water] this means your body isn't taking in the nutrients from the water and its just passing through.
Urine should be a straw like yellow colour
Too dark and your not drinking enough water
take care

Drinking too much water will alter the osmotic balance between the fluid in your body, and the fluid in your cells. When you drink too much water, the concentration of solutes (ions, sugars, proteins, etc) outside your cells falls compared to that inside. Water then flows along the osmotic gradient into your cells eventually causing them to burst. Mostly, the blood cells are effected, but that could lead to severe anaemia and hyopxia. It's pretty hard to achieve, but it has happened.
yes but i think it is like if ou where to drink all at once check some links. I dont know of copletly helpful links but i know one.
I know it is harmful

I don't think it is dangerous though. It's better if you drink right like 6-8 glasses a day. But they say "anything in excess is bad for you". So just drink right.
no more the better
depends on how much you drink and how often...
its possible to cause water poisoning, by simply being dehydrated and drinking consistent large amounts of water.
which can kill you...
simply because your body cannot deal with the processing of such a large amount of liquid your kindeys etc, would fail due to immense stress.
yes anything in excess is toxic
Any food or drink, taken in too big amounts can be toxic...
No way who told you that
I just had a nutrition course...you see I work in catering.
Your body is 2thirds water so you need to make sure what you eat is balanced with what you drink.
If your skin is dry or your face, if you have a head-ache or if your urine is blurry you need water.
On average we should have @3 pints of water a day +fruits&vegetables.
I usually drink @6 cups of water a day.
Water is not toxic but it can take away some of your minerals&vitamins through urine, sweat and bleeding.
Even so remember that dehydratation can affect your concentration and physical activity.
So no matter what people say remember you need to drink 3 pints or up to 8 cups of water a day if you have a balanced diet.
if you drink too much water, your sodium level drops. If it drops too frequently, you develop swelling in your brain. This can cause confusion, a drunk feeling, or even death.
No! Water is the best thing to drink. It doesn't matter how much you drink, the more the better!
yes its a newly discovered situation -water toxicity or sometimes called water drunk-its not usually the case if you drink alot of water in 1 day -over time -if too much water is consumed -it can decrease the bodys chemistry- i believe it has to do with the blood sugar -and sodium content gets too low and yes it can be deadly -i drink a lot of water but i also drink "propel" its made by gatorade -it vitamin enhanced -so you keep the electrolytes that your body needs at safe levels
I don't know if it's toxic, but too much is just as bad as too little.
You could drown..and that..my friend..is toxic.
yes very , it drowns your organs and reduces you salt and sugar levels. thats why my limit is only 10 glasses and that only when im sick
Yes, it's true. Remember not long ago there was a radio contest on drinking water and someone died from it?? A nurse even called in and told them that much water could be toxic to their bodies but they didn't listen.
However, I don't think it would be possible to overdo drinking water if you drank it on a regular basis. There's no way you could consume that much...or I wouldn't think so. your body needs so much water before all of its systems can function normally.
