I wake up and can't feel my arm??

Question:
This has happened to me.. about 2-3 within a couple of months, including this morning.
What happen is that i wake up in the morning and i basically can't feel my arm. It feels really weird and i can't describe how it feels but it isn't good. I hit my arm on my leg but i still can't feel it, even if i pinch it really hard. But if i start shaking it really fast (my arm), after a while, it kinda goes back to normal and feels normal too.
This really scares me and i was wondering does anybody know why this happens??

thanks.

Answers:
You slept with your hand under your pillow which slowed down the blood flow. Then your arm goes numb. It's pretty common for me. When you shake your arm a couple times it gets the flow going and you start feeling your arm again.
Get your thyroid checked.
It probably is just a problem with blood flow, ask your doctor about it on your next check up - it shouldn't be that serious.
maybe you were leaning at it the whole time you were sleeping...

it happens..
I have heard of restless leg syndrome but not sure if this can happen in arms as well. You are probably pinching a nerve when sleeping in a certain position. If it continues you should see a doctor.
You are just fine. You are probably rolling over and putting your arm under your body when you sleep, which causes the blood flow to your arm to be somewhat restricted. As a result/precaution, your arm goes into a state where it is "asleep" causing the weird sensation you experience when you wake up. Once you get back in a normal position and more blood is pumped through your arm, it goes back to normal.
Are you sleeping on it in a strange position? Try an extra pillow to protect your arm while you are sleeping or switch to the other side.
It happens to me too.It feels like your arm is paralised. It is caused by you sleeping on your arm and cutting off the blood circulation to your arm.Try to avoid sleeping on your hands or arms.
It could be serious but sounds like you just sleep on it and it goes to sleep on you.

If you are female and this happens around your period you may be retaining water and the numbness comes easier if you sleep on the arm all night or something.

For a complete answer you need to see a Doctor.
hehe, this happens to me too buddy. its similar to a dead leg. by lying on your arm that is "dead" you can cut off the blood supply to that arm and thus the nerves dont have blood to make them work. after about 5 minutes i can feel my arm again YAY!!! hope this answers your question...
