Is it possible to twist your ankle and not know till a couple of days?


Question:
is it possible to sprain your ankle on 1 day and it not hurt, then the next day it hurts when you put pressure on it?
cause thats what has ahppened to me, what should i do?
i'm 13, and yesterday i think i twisted it in the pool, but it didnt hurt, it just felt weak, and then today i've woken up and it really hurts to put weight on it, and i am limping really badly even though i have my ankle support on it(i do gymnastics and have previous sprains). whmy mom said to look on this website, and when she gets home this evening if its still like it is, we'll go to the hospital(if nessesary).

It is quite possible to strain a muscle when you are warmed up and stretched and not feel it until the next day when the muscles have tightened up.
If you had sprained your ankle you would know at the time as you would not have been able to walk without pain and there would be swelling - you may have put strain on the ankle performing gymnastics - avoid gymnastics for a week or so but I would also advise going to your Doctor just in case you have caused a longer term injury - my sister performed gymnastics for many years and eventually she developed a long term problem with one of her ankles
You probably pulled a muscle. That weak feeling could come from the injury and then the muscles tighten over night and will be achey the next day. The same as if you were in a car accident - the muscles take a beating then you are supre sore the next few days. There is probably nothing they could do for you at the hospital. Tell you to keep it elevated and take some Ibuprofen. If it is still bugging you after a few days though I would go to the Dr. and have some x-rays done.
