I need information on the healing process for knee (lateral meniscus) surgery?

It really depends on your age, the degree of the tear and type of procedure you had. Most people experience a simple arthroscopic debridement. Physical therapy after this type of surgery usually lasts 4-8 weeks, but full recovery really takes about 6 months...during the remainder of this time, you may experience occasional swelling and pain. There is also a certain percentage of people who just simply do not respond well to the surgery. Once that tear has been scoped, the mechanics of the knee are now changed...for about 1/3 of patients, they simply do not respond well...especially those in their upper 40s to 60s...and often wind up opting for a unicompartmental or total knee replacement somewhere down the line. However, before you file yourself into that category, I'd always wait a year before considering that.
If you, however, actually had a meniscus REPAIR, know that the healing from this is even longer.
Either way, it still sounds like you are in the stages of recovery...don't write yourself off yet.
It can be discouraging..but don't u dare give up...it can take up to a year of therapy for your knee to be fully healed again.
yoga, massage, and accu-punture, or accu-pressure can do wonders for deep tissue repair. my father's having surgery on that same tendon next week, so those were a few suggestions tossed to him by a friend who'd had the same thing done
it takes time a long time i had tore ACL and MCL took 6 months to feel OK 1 year tell felt good
