The correct amount of water to drink every as per those medical people is 8 litres. I know is sounds alot, but after you have drunk it, it is a lot. The reason for this is to cleanse your body of all the toxins and make you feel better. Well it does after 10 trips to the toilet every hour.
It is most definitely possible to die from drinking too much water. It is a condition called Hyponatria and is mostly associated with sporting activity. If salt is lost in sweat and then large amounts of water are drunk the concentration of sodium in the blood drops. The excess water from the blood then moves into your cells and can cause your brain to swell up.
