Is this something serious?

It can be a number of things but I would put it down into an easy two.
1) Heartburn/indegestion. Having something to eat or drink will stir up your stomach acids and get them producing enzymes to digest but too much or too strong can come back up your oesphagus and burn causing chest pain that feels like a heartattack. Unless youv'e had a heart attack.
Taking some antacids will help if this is the problem.
A hiatus hernia can make it so much worse and cause it to hurt more when lying down or bending over.
It will also cause you to fell quite sick at times.
If the antacids don't work you will need to see your Doctor to get a prescription for some H2 Inhibitors to settle the acid.
2) Oesphageal spasms, also know as cardio spasms (but nothing to do with your heart). They are when your oesphagus cramps up and goes into spasm when you swallow liquids or solids.
If this is the case not much, but time and potent drugs, will settle the pain.
If you think it is this, try a really cold glass of water. It shocks the oesphagus but into normality sometimes.
If that still dosn't work and things still feel as if they are getting stuck and the pain get's worse you will need to go to the ER for a muscle relaxant, Midazalam, and Morphine. This combination does an excellant job.
So first off take some more antacids or another type and go from there.
It could be heartburn or indigestion..Try some tums and see if it helps..
well i think you have difficulties in swallowing... it may be inflammation or a heartburn..see your physician..and eat on time.
Yeah I believe I know what you are feeling. I had the same symptoms as you did and it turned out that I had Acid Reflux Disease. But please remember that I can nor anyone else on the web can diagnose you properly since we have not examined you in person. You should consult with your physician about your problem. Make sure that your physician does an EKG on you to make sure that your heart rate is normal. Also have your physician run some blood work, a CBC and a SMAC, to make sure that everything in your body is okay. All the best.
Could be a Hiatal Hernia, but only a M.D. can do some tests to know for sure. Dont lay flat, never after eating! Your Dr. can prescribe some medication, for a hiatal hernia/or esophagus problems.
