Can I be dehydrated?

Question:
I have been in a very hot climate that I am not used to for the past week. I feel dizzy, listless, sluggish and just blah since I have gotten here. I havent been drinking water (juice, soda, alcohol etc.) and I never really thought it would make a difference. I guess my question is can this be dehydration? How can I avoid it? How much water should I drink daily? The temp is easily 95 degrees daily...with no A/C hardly anywhere. I used to being A/C' ed all the time. Big difference!

Answers:
sounds like dehydration to me...on a normal day you should be drinking 8-8oz glasses of water(or more if you are drinking alcohol or soda as they dehydrate your body more) especially if you are not used to the heat...don't forget that your body is loosing water from perspiration due to the excessive heat as well...best thing is to get a big water bottle and fill it with ice water to keep with you and sip on throughout the day, then just refill it as needed..hope that helps...
8 glasses of water a day, could be mild sunstroke you have, try and stay in the shade and rehydrate yourself. avoid alcohol as this dehydrates you, also soda as the Co2 in it makes you more thirsty.
it probably is. you need at least 1.5 L of fluid day, that's 3 bottles of water (the medium sized ones). juice contains lots of sugar that just makes u more dehydrated. soda contains caffeine that dehydrates you, so if u drink a cup make sure to drink a bottle of water to get back to your fluid balance. alcohol also dehydrates u and its nothing but empty calories. so i say try and stay away from the sugary and caffeinated stuff if you can and in hot weather like that where you are sweating all the time and loosing fluid anyways drink 2 L of water daily if you can
