I have had my ears pierced many times, and enough infections of cartilage to know what an infection sounds like.It sounds like it could very well be infected. Redness and pain are never good in an ear piercing. I would get to your local piercer and have them take a look. They can tell you the best course of action to save your piercing.
Best of luck.
Isn't a rook a bird? Did you get your bird pierced? I'm confused.
Go see your doctor. If you're having these problems it's probably best to avoid the place that put you in this predicament. Good luck.
whatsa "rook"??
family doctor's experience
Was the needle sterilized, who knows, it might have germs on it. Right now, was the ear with soap, and put alcohol on it.
As soon as possible go to a doctor and he will prescribe medicine (most likely gel), to get rid of the infection. The longer you wait, the worse it will get.
it does get very sore and sensitive what you need to do is wash it with soap and water, warm and rinse well, use nutrogeana for sensitive skin, rinse well with purified water if you have it and apply an ointment called bacitracin or zinc oxide paste and rub it around the hole and jewelry sliding it around getting the gel inside the actual hole and that will help keep the skin from attaching to the jewelry, it will also help it heal and always use clean hands when touching it, take care and best wishes!..p.s you can get the pastes or bacitracin from the drug store/pharmacy it isnt very expensive
take the thing out of you and clean the area with antiseptic and let it heal up. go to the doctor if it doesn't start to get better soon after taking the thing out. I bet a lot of people get bad infections doing that stuff. you better be careful those infections can get serious.
well its going to swell and hurt. and get a fever because you put a needle where a needle ain't supposed to go... I personally have had both my rooks pierced, my eyebrow, my tongue, nose, monroe, nipples, and belly button...just make sure you keep it clean and if you have long hair that will definitely irritate it... keep your hair up in a bun while your sleeping so that it doesn't twist around the ring in your sleep. also this stuff called Ocean Water or H20 (brand names) work really good in keepin your stuff healthy... you can get it at tatoo shops... good luck
you have classic signs of an infection, red, swollen, pain, and hot! I would NOT go to a piercing place, but to a doctor for oral antibiotics or you risk the infection spreading to adjacent tissue, called a cellulitis, and that is both painful and dangerous. Go tomorrow.
so... a rook is part of the ear?
You are probably fine. You most likely slept on it weird or hit it somehow while you were sleeping/awake/hanging with friends. Piercings are wounds, and you have to baby them. Make sure you are following your piercers guidelines for after care! It will feel better soon enough, esp the closer to healing it is. But bumping into it a lot keeps it from healing as quickly, as does chlorine/lake water, hairspray, and any other chemicals that get into it.
