Eatting raw eggs?
Question:
thanks
Answers:
The whole egg has the Salmonella. You should not take any chances.
I think the whole egg has salmonella & can make you very sick.
all. don't get salmonella, i've had it before, and came within an inch of my life.
potentially all parts can carry it but the yolk is less likely because it is the food source for the embryo.
Salmonella is cultured on proteins, broth, agar, etc...I would venture a guess that it's the white that harbors the bacteria.
However, I must also add: Salmonella is also found in foods that have been cooked or frozen and not eaten quickly enough and from handling turtles and other reptiles.
It's the germ that is the developing chick, and both the yolk and the white are food sources.
Salmonella is cultivated in the laboratory on agar, which being proteinaceous, more closely resembles egg white than the fatty yolk.
Chickens are the *filthiest* farm animal, making pigs look positively hygenic by comparison. If the hen is carrying salmonella, both the yolk and the white would be contaminated.
Raw milk? Sure! I drink it all the time. But raw eggs? No matter how hard the farmer tries to keep those chickens clean, I wouldn't trust raw chicken or raw eggs.
