Poor posture: Is there a brace out there that would help?

Question:
I'm very tall and have had poor posture since I was a kid. My shoulders are slightly rounded from all the slouching. I try to sit up straight as often as possible, but I need some initial assistance.

Does anyone know of a good posture correcting brace I could try? Thanks!

Answers:
One thing you can do that is cheap is to get some athletic tape and use that on your back. What you do is sit up nice and tall with your shoulders back and have someone put one strip of tape from shoulder blade to shoulder blade and 1 strip down your spine from the base of your neck to the middle of your back. Then if you slouch forward you pull on the tape and this forces your muscles to correct your posture. It will strengthen your postural muscles so that you can hold a better posture. You will probably only tolerate this for an hour or 2 at first but in a couple of weeks you should be able to tolerate for several hours...eventually you wont need the tape and will have really good posture. If you rely on a brace to hold your posture then you will have to wear the brace forever b/c the muscles will never be strong to hold your posture. Another suggestion is to see a physical therapist to show you exercises to strengthen your postural muscles.
take like a long scarf or blanket and tie it around your body andthe chair when sitting. it will keep u up straight. or try a back brace.
