How sad. i went through some random health questions and noticed?

Question:
that a lot of poor advice - dangerous in some cases was given a thumbs up.

safe, correct and helpful answers given a thumbs down.

i strongly urge anyone who takes the advice they receive here seriously to check it out with a doctor.

Answers:
I don't think this is really a question, but it is one of the best things I've read lately on Answers.

Thumbs up to Heather for her comments. I noticed some really off-the-wall, bad advice, too. It gave me the creeps that some of it was voted as "best answer" even. I especially noticed that some of the dieting and body building questions had some potentially harmful answers.

I was wondering about some of the questions, too. How is it possible for someone to know how to operate a computer and have access to the Internet, yet be so unaware of basic hygiene and personal health?

There are some major drawbacks to looking for health information from the blissfully uninformed/misinformed.
Thanks!! That is the best advice of all.
I really really agree with you!
I couldn't agree more. I'm a Certified Dental Assistant, and only give answers when I know they are correct and the correct advice. Most times I'm given a thumbs down, and I think it's because the answers I give a lot of people don't want to hear.

You're exactly right. I think it's dangerous to have an open fourm where completely uneducated people dispense medical advice like candy.
absolutely!

pointing out some "HELPFUL INFORMATION" on the internet is one thing - but getting your 'medical prescriptions' from the crowds of people on the web who "practice medicine without a licence" is another thing altogether...
thats why questioners should request a list of sources, so the random d****** cant give off bad advice
I've noticed that too. There have been a few times myself and other people answered a question exactly the same (me with actual knowledge because I am a premed major) and we've received thumbs down, and the people going with the opposite of what we've said are getting thumbs up. It seriously worries me sometimes because I can't help but wonder who the questioner is listening to.
