Melted Fingernail! Wtf!?


Question:
So I was perhaps a little irresponsible on the fourth of July and ended up burning the tip of my ring finger. I went to the sink and ran cool water over it, bandaged it, and went to bed. And yet, the actual fingernail appears to have melted. The same thing happened to me when I was a toddler using a sparkler. I can't remember that time too well though, so I ask you, how long till the nail gro out back to normal? On the bright side, I think I learned my lesson regarding firecrackers.

Fingernails grow at the average rate of half inch/month, but they break and wear down.
