Hyperventilation is when you breathe really fast and shallow like when you are very nervous or scared. It makes you light headed and maybe pass out.

When you breathe so rapidly, that your brain actually gets too much oxygen, and you feel faint. people often breathe in a paper bag, to get oxygen at half content to slow the light headiness.
When you breathe too quickly, it can cause dizziness and fainting. I have anxiety and when it gets bad I hyperventalate.
It is when you breathe at a greater rate of speed than your body can handle, and you get too much carbondioxide and you've become depleted of oxygen...this can actually be fatal if you blood-oxygen count should drop too far.
I believe "hyperventilation" is spelled like this and if it is the word you meant then it means taking a series of very deep breaths.
Increases inspiration and expiration of air. Usually caused by anxiety. This can lead to depletion of the carbon dioxide in the blood. The cure is haveing the victim breathe into a paper bag until the carbon dioxide levels in the blood returns to normal.
