Does anyone suffer from Neuropathy?

Question:
Which medications provide any relief for you? Acupuncture and/or alternative therapy suggestions?

Answers:
yes, I suffer a great deal from this. What helps me the most is deep tissue massage therapy. Many people are helped by acupuncture. Give these alternative treatments a try and see if it helps you.
no
I work for neurolgists...the medication depends on the person. Neurotin is a huge help for most patients. Seizure meds known as Triptans will help with neuropathic pain. Is your neuropathy due to diabetes or an extended use of a steroid? Sometimes physical therapy can help, too.
My first question for you is, "Are you diabetic?" I say this because neuropathy is one thing. Neuropathy as a complication of diabetes is quite another. The latter can be much more dangerous. My mother is a diabetic with neuropathy. She doesn't notice when she hurts herself. She has the most trouble in the shower. The water is so hot that she burns herself to the point that she develops blisters on her skin because she cannot feel how hot the water is. These injuries take a long time to heal due to the diabetes. That's where the danger comes in. It's gotten to the point that my dad had to turn down the water heater and starts the shower for my mom in the morning.

That being said, she doesn't take any medications for it because of the potential of negative interactions with her other meds. But there are some that they say can help. Elavil (amitriptyline), an antidepressant works for some. Lyrica and Neurontin, both anticonvulsants also show some effectiveness. There are lots of others that I don't know much about but there are published studies all over the internet. But figure out what kind of neuropathy you experience before you choose a course of action.
My grandmother and two friends of mine suffer from Neuropathy. They all get a medicine called "Neuratin" Not sure if that is how you spell it. Bur it seems to somewhat be working for them.
Also they might give you a pain pill.
