There is relatively common condition known as"globus hystericus" that refers to having the sensation of something stuck in the throat. Patients describe it in a variety of ways, but most commonly like a lump in the throat. If it is bothersome enough they often seek medical attention.
This is one of the more common conditions that cause this symptm in young otherwise healthy people. It is usually self-limiting (ie, it will go away on its own). Some experts believe it is related to stress (as are headaches at times).
If your symptoms persist, should consult a physician to check for: conditions such as constrictive ring's in the esophagus, strictures (narrowing/scarring), and even esophageal cancer (mostly in older pts with history of prolonged smoking and drinking).
Besides these structural problems or growths there are also some conditions that affect the actual swallowing function of esophagus and neurological conditions that can affect the muscles in the pharynx (throat).
For persistent symptoms simple test would be an esophagram x-ray to exclude those conditions above. Direct visualizationcan be done by endoscopy (looking down it with tube/camera and light) but more invasive, requires sedation, and more expensive.
Headaches per se are not related to a throat condition. Perhaps the discomfort in the throat, or worry/stress over it is acting as a trigger leading to your headaches. Excess stress could explain having globus hystericus and increased headaches together. Are you stressed out (like more than normal, that is) ?
Bottom line-if persists have it checked by a doctor. If you are young and healthy and it goes away within a couple of weeks don't worry about it. If you're under excessive stress hopefully this will pass soon.
