wrap it with an ace bandage so that you do not use it.
Quit being a wimp I just worked for the last 4 months with my hand and wrist borken in 3 spots and did not tell anyone. I just finally had it x-rayed because I was wondering if it was healing. Doctor said it was healing. Quit being a baby.
Time, ice for the first 48 hours and heat for the next 48 hours, and rest that hand until it feels better. If the sprain is really bad, wrap it with an ace bandage, and you probably need to see a doctor if you have not already done so.
Hmm...you can't really heal it, but you do have to take some measures by using the acronym PRICE:
P - Protect: Protect said injured joint from further injury
R - Rest: Stop activities that use the injured joint
I - Ice: Apply ice on the effected area several times a day, but never more than 15 minutes at a time, and never put the ice directly on the skin~! Use a towel.
C - Compression: Use a tensor to make a cold-compress wrap to reduce inflammation
E - Elevation: Elevate the injured limb to/above heart-level
