If you are recovering from a broken bone in your foot ankle, can you drive with a "walking boot?"?

Question:
I broke a bone in my foot, apparently a break bad enough that it has its own name: a "jones fracture." It sucks. In a cast that feels like 100 lbs, on crutches, and I can't drive (I live in Los Angeles, so that's the equivalent of locking one in a dungeon or tower since the MTA sucks). I'm seeing the doc next week and am foaming at the mouth to get a "walking boot," but now I'm not sure if wearing such a thing will allow me to drive. Does it? I'll still use the crutches all of the time, but I HAVE to be able to get around soon...

Answers:
I FEEL YOUR PAIN, I broke my foot in December and was in a cast 6 weeks, boot for 4 weeks and then an ankle brace. I am still in physical therapy 2x a week. Crutches are the worst, but my arms are very strong! Anyway, yes you can drive with a boot, I did it. I had a boot with crutches and then a walking boot without - drove with both. Just have to get used to the feel of it... be careful! Good luck, I would talk to your doctor about it.
Yes, as long as you feel comfortable. I did drive with my boot and it was fine
