I have got an insect bite on the back of my leg which wont heal any advice?

Question:
I have been bitten behind my knee and the bite now wont heal! How can I get it to heal up? Is it a trip to the doctors or is there any other way?

Answers:
Go the the pharmacy my darling and ask for Fenistil Gel, its antihistimine, and you may have an allergic reaction to the bite, indicated by the fact it is slow or reluctant to heal.

It may still take time to heal depending on the severity of the allergic reaction. On the other hand you may not have an allergic reaction, it may just be a really nasty bite. Either way Fenistil gel is about as good as you can get without going to a cortisone based treatment. Avoid that if you can.

Make sure you get the gel, Fenistil is available for other problems in different formats. The pharmacy will know it you tell him it's for a bad bite.

Sounds like it is bad enough to go beyond trying alternate things like tea tree oil. You clearly have a bad reaction that needs correct treatment.. Good luck
ask 4 suggestions in pharmacy... i asked there & they gave me a cream... it was great
tea tree oil. I was bitten loads the other day, they all came up in big lumps and started leaking a kind of glue like substance, I put tea tree on and they are healing nicely
GAL was bitten last sat night Mark, looked like a broken hand till friday, even now, you can still see the difference.
Use arnica tincture to reduce any swelling, followed by tea tree oil to dry it out and it should go away, you need to let the air get to it as much as you can so wear shorts instead of trousers.
Make sure there is no insect debris left in the wound by giving it a good squeeze first, you can get heads and all sorts of yukky stuff left in bites and stings.
Have you tried an anti-histamine cream? Sometimes you can suffer from an allergic reaction to bites, even if you haven't before. Particularly nasty ones can sometimes take several days to heal.
for something as so severe as that may i suggest that you have your head chopped off it usually cures all your ailments, " LOL "... nah its because its the back of your knee that is irritating it, get some bactroban cream or timodine cream they are both very good for them things.
I would agree with neogriff on all counts. To make sure you never get bitten again by any flying insect always rub on some Avon Skin So Soft bath OIL , not spray,in Woodland Fresh scent. We often go up to Scotland mountain climbing and were recommended this by one of the Special Forces instructors we used, they even wear it in the Jungle.
Id like to know how they found it worked? Who was the squaddie?
try eurax or germoline ask the pharmacist if these don't help.
Bathe area with cold water it calms it down a treat but itching is often worse at night. My daughter has been bitten 4 times this month 3 times in 1 day!The area is red and swollen and it has clearly spread but a cold wet flannel helped a lot.
Dab it with Surgical spirit...It works.
