Smoking messes up your insulin levels - along with a lot of other things in your body... so when you quit it helps to eat a lot of fruit and veggies, and even unrefined carbohydrates (brown rice, whole wheat products etc) to keep your blood sugar up and energy levels high.

Although fruit juice isn't normally recommended, due to its high fructose content without the fiber, it's very good to drink for a few weeks after quitting to help your blood sugar levels and thus your energy. Thereafter, water is your best bet.

Also don't forget to now really look after yourself. When smoking, your body has been depleted of vit C and other vitamins and minerals, as well as having to cope with toxins, so now is a good time to take some natural supplements and eat only organic natural foods.

Exercise - you can start off gently - will surprisingly make you feel better, by increasing blood flow and releasing good feeling endorphins in your brain (similar to nicotine).

Ex-smokers need lots of sleep and naps as the body de-toxifies - don't fight it, you will soon wonder how you can feel so good!

There's a lot of help at this website, and a great section on weight and food:
good for you!
first- yee haa! i envy you. try a multi vitamin. one a day makes a multi vit plus all day energy they work great for me. you're still going through a little bit of nicotine withdrawal right now and your body is ridding itself of toxins. give it another week or so and eat healthy. it should help. also, if you're having cravings and giving into garbage foods, that will have a lot to do with the tiredness too.
and again.yee haa!
A good way to feel better is to make exercise. Go for walks, jog a little bit anything to move so your body can create some adrenaline which is a "legal drug" for the body. You should not eat a lot of junkies except if you want to gain a lot of weight in little time. Just move and play sports, it will make you forget about your cigarettes. Anyway, YOU ARE REAL GOOD, KEEP GOING AND CONGRATS!
I have a website/Yahoo group with extensive files and links which can help answer just about any question you might have regarding quitting smoking. Hang in there.
