Methadone withdrawl?
Question:
Answers:
he needs to talk with his doctor
Yes, there are several things that can help accelerate recovery.
1. Quit cold turkey. Trying to reduce the dose to come off methadone slowly won't work as well as quitting completely.
2. Nutrition is the most important part. Drink lots of water, and eat lots of proteins and fats. No red meat for three weeks, though, because it will increase the aches and pain. Fish, eggs, and poultry are best. No sodas or sugary snacks for two to three weeks.
Take a multivitamin and eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but not from cans- fresh.
If eating is too difficult, get some protein powder mix from a health store.
3. Start exercising as soon as possible. Swimming is the best, but just getting out and walking around can be a good first start.
Good luck.
Cold turkey is not the way to stop.
The best option for your boyfriend is to get him into some sort of treatment program. I understand you want to do your best for him... but the best really is for him to enter a treatment program. Even something outpatient like N.A. (Narcotics Anonymous).
Nothing ANYONE can do will help him unless he admits that he has a problem and truly wants to stop.
u sure he's only been taking them 2 wks? sounds like he had a bad reaction. Why did he take them in the first place? they r one serious drug of abuse so help him thru this, he will be ok, if thats all the time he has been taking them.
Two weeks you say? I think there's a bigger problem you need to deal with here: lying. Either you're lying to us or he's lying about his usage.
