What does it mean when my knees are making a clicking sound?

Question:
Lately, my knees have been making a clicking sound and I noticed popping noises as well (sound as if you're cracking your knuckles). This can't be good. What can I do to reverse this? I'm in my late twenties, excercise regularly, and not obese.

Answers:
One thing is to be careful about the type of exercises you do. Strengthen the muscles around the knee by doing leg lifts: lying on a bench or sitting on a chair and raising and lowering the leg. Don't do things like deep knee bends or squats.
that has to do with cartilage in your knees. there isn't a way to reverse it
Sounds like the discs in your knee that act as padding to stop any friction between bones are starting to wear out. I'd have them x-rayed . It could be osteoarthritis, but see your doctor, it may be something else entirely, but you need to find out.
As long as your are not in pain - it is just like cracking your knuckles - it's just air - no worries - - - but, if you are having pain, check with the doc
good luck!
