How to cure back muscle pain resulting from sitting for at least 8-10 hours a day infront of the PC?

Question:
I have developed some kind of back pain in the lower waist right side muscle. I honestly don't know what to do. it's getting worse day by day. it hurts a lot when i try to bend over to the front. I also know for a fact that my chair isn't helping at all. do I have to check with a doctor to check if it's not something "serious" or is this just normal? because the pain seems to be concentrated in 1 spot only. PLEASE help me. (i'm 20 years older)

Answers:
This is not "normal." Yes, you should see a doctor to see what's causing this. Beyond that, you know that your chair is an issue. You need to find one that is ergonomically correct. It's also best to get up and move around for a few minutes at least once an hour. If you need to remind yourself, use an alarm clock. Unless there are underlying health issues, you should be able to be at a computer that long. There are many things that can be done to avoid problems from spending a work day at the computer:
• Be sure your desk and chair put your keyboard and monitor at the right height for you. When you're sitting with your hands on the keyboard, your forearms should be parallel with the floor.
• Maintain a good posture. Sit comfortably without slumping, feet on the floor.
• Drink plenty of water to remain well hydrated. Dehydration can cause muscle pain and spasms.

Good luck.
go to the doctor im not an expert but it it feels as sore as you say it is then i doubt it will go away unless you consult a doctor.
I know for me, I need to get up every hour or so. I just stand up, stretch, maybe walk around and then sit back down. I also shake me legs or wiggle my toes quite often while I'm sitting. This keeps the blood flowing. Try a pillow behind your back.
Good Luck!
it's NORMAL if you have a bad chair and your computer workstation ( ergonomics) are set up badly.

If you don't fix the workstation heights and angles, it will keep getting worse. Taking several breaks from sitting there each day, and gentle stretching exercises will help some.
Your back pain is due to poor posture and sitting in front of a pc makes it worse. I don't sit on a chair in front of my pc but a stool so that I am forced to sit with a straight back.
My advice to you is to try sitting up straight possibly against the sofa and sit on the floor while you do things like watching the tv etc. You will find it uncomfortable to begin with but as I said if you have weak postural muscles this will be the case. Go to see your GP to make sure it is nothing more serious and then start trying to sit up straight and breathing from your belly rather than just in your chest which can also cause muscle tightness in the back.

Good luck

i suggest standing up & dong stretches for your back every so often while you are at the computer & taking breaks to get up & walk around to change position.

and, you said it, get a good chair! if you HAVE to spend that much time at the computer, make it easier on your body.
Some people in my knowledge have back pain and they get expensive treatment from the so called hi-fi hospitals. But still, the pain continues. You should consult some Yogi.
U need to consult a good Doctor, n need to some regular exercises for your back... I know a good Doctor if u r situated in Delhi... Back pains r troublesome at times...
Firstly improve your posture while working, walking etc. for your pain do some yoga excersises regularly in the morning which are helpful for back & shoulders & over all stiffness of the body. Also apply Ice pack for 10-15 minutes on the affected area, it really works man.
Our body is not a machine and you can see for yourself what happens if you over do something that is not part of nature. It is high time you changed your life style. You are young and if you abuse yourself you will only aggravate your problems and add also other physical problems such as frozen shoulders, eye problems, hernia, constipation etc. So the only remedy is to gradually reduce the number of hours you are sitting in front of your PC. Talk to your seniors and take up other assignments at work place that does not involve working with your PC.
Unless you were in someother type of trauma that you did not mention, it's unlikely you have something serious to your back from sitting in a chair.

I'd recommend a conservative treatment at this point:

Either way, get a new chair, one recommended by someone trained in ergonomics.
I have similar problem. I get pain while brushing or washing the face etc. It's slipdisc for me. I am going for physiotherapy sessions. Massage and yoga help a lot.
I am doing following asanas for the bachache:
Standing Maricyasana
Utthita Trikonasana
Utthita Parsvakonasana
Ardha Chandrasana
Supta Padagustasana
Supta Vajrasana
Dhanurasana
Ushtrasana
Viparita Karani

The physio has advised to do excercises as shown in figure 1, 2 and 3 in the following link:
http://www.spine-health.com/topics/conse...

Everyday you need to spend at least 30-45 minutes on exercise. Apart from that you can go for 20 minutes walking.

For me backache was caused due to tightening of muscles. This happens because of the stress. I think meditation should help this problem.

I am sorry to say there is no short cut!
