Anyone suffer from this? What should I eat?

Answers:
I have been diagnosed with this also. I was on medication for it, but it was taken off the market by the FDA (Zelnorm). Since then, I have been on a high fiber diet and it has helped more than the medication did.

Before you can be diagnosed with IBS you need to see a gastroentereologist. He/she will likely preform a colonoscope and look for other diseases (like Chron's disease) and may even do a biospy if he/she seems an abnormal area.

After listening to your symptoms and after a normal colonoscopy the gastroenterlogist may diagnose you with IBS.

There are a few medications you can use, like anti-spasmodics which decrease the spasm in your bowel) and will probably link you up with a dietician. The dietician will help you find foods that keep your bowel happy.

The best advice I can give you is to wait for the doctor to diagnose you rather than diagnosing yourself.

Good luck!
I'm glad you have scheduled a doctor's appointment. You need to be careful in diagnosing yourself, especially with symptoms like you mentioned. Those are symptoms for other problems as well.

I have IBS, but I have very minimal issues with it now. I never took any medication for it except for when the pain was bad...other than that, I just watched what I ate. Different foods trigger different symptoms in people with IBS. I couldn't eat a lot of greasy foods...those were the worst when it came to pain. If I avoided those, I was okay. For you, I would say eat foods with a lot of fiber. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Honestly, what really triggered my flareups was stress. It was interesting though because I went on antidepressants in college and after that my IBS seemed to get better. My doctor said that sometimes happens in people with IBS who have stress as a trigger. When you're anxious, the intestines cramp up, causing pain. Antidepressants help keep you relaxed, therefore keeping your intestines relaxed as well, so you have less problems. If the doctor does determine you have IBS, you might want to consider a low dose antidepressant if controlling what you eat doesn't help. Good luck!
Chlorophyll is good for the digestive system and also the enzyme bromelain found in the core of pineapple.
I've had IBS for as long as I can remember. I have to take fiber. I've also been on Zelnorm and it worked wonders! But, they took it off the market. So, I'm back on fiber and I'm also taking probiotics. The probiotics are good bacteria to help you digestive system work better.
