The problem is the Temporo Mandibular Joint, also known as TMJ...
Locking of the TMJ may be noticed simply by catching of the lower jaw as it opens. Sometimes, the person with a locked joint must move the jaw to one side or another in order to open wide. Or, a person might have to open until he hears and feels a loud pop, at which point the jaw actually unlocks.

sweetie that classic TMJ...lock jaw syndrome..i have the same thing it's just not as bad...but i would say it's time to go to the dentist because TMJ can get really serious and start causing really bad headaches and stomach aches..however the bad news is that i don't think they can fix it without surgery...good luck and i hope this helps!!
Hi there you have TMJ probably. It is a inflammation in the jaw, it can be cause by numerous thngs such as grinding teeth, excessive chewing, car accidents and many others. It can cause excrutiating headaches, jaw pain, eye pain, clicking, cracking swelling in the face, pain in your ears, neck etc. if the inflammation gets bad enough you sometimes can;t open your mouth, you should take some advil if you can, and see a dentist. Sometimes people who have tmj have to have a splint made that is to be worn at bedtime or sometimes all the time to take some of the pressure off of the jaw/ It can be very problematic if left untreated. Use ice on the sore jaw, and take advil. See your dentist, try not to chew any gum, or stuff that is really hard to chew. It will take quite a few days of babying it, with ice and ibuprophen to start feeling better. take care hope that helps/
