What is causing the returning numbness & dull pain in left index finger ?
Question:
My mom has arthrisis pain in hands & feet but did not get this until she was 54 years old. I'm 34.
I do spend a lot of time in front of a computer. I'm right handed and alternate between left and right hand-mousing.
Do my symptoms match early signs of arthrisis, or carpal tunnel syndrome ? Or something else ?
Answers:
Have you ever heard of OOS? It stands for Occuptional Overuse Syndrome. It used to be known as RSI - Repititive Strain Injury. Some of the symptoms are numbness, tingling and pain. Your best solution is to visit your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and if it is this - physiotherapy can help relieve the symptoms and you will be taught exercises to manage it.
Below is an exerpt from one website - there's many more. Just type in OOS as a subject.
"What is OOS?
Occupational Overuse Syndrome
Do you know of people that have OOS/RSI? Have it yourself?
Chances are that different people will answer those questions in different ways, because the signs and symptoms of OOS are as varied as the parts of the body in which it can occur.
The following are all possible early warning signs of OOS.
* Muscle discomfort
* Aches and pains
* Fatigue
* Soreness
* Hot and cold feelings
* Stiffness
* Numbness and tingling
* Muscle weakness and tightness"
I have the same thing, it is short term Carple tunnel .
You can get it from just holding the tv remote while watching, you dont even have to be using something but holding it , the pressure in your fingers makes it feel like arthritus for a whole day sometimes.
Anything that is not there all the time is caused by something you are doing/
there are a lot of things it could be. you should go to ur Doctor. my hand keeped on fallin asleep when i was sleeping and i ended up going to the chiropractor and now it doesn't fall asleep in less i lay on it. all ur nerves are in ur back so theres a possibility.
I have a sensitive nerve in my C7, and that is what happens when it gets irritated. My middle finger goes numb.
It could be your circulation. Have your doctor check it.
Good luck!

The most likely reason is muscles pressing on nerves.
I would (and do) see a chiropractor and massage therapist.
