How would you know if your leg is broken?
Question:
could it hurt when you sit down?
Answers:
Hi;
I am only speaking from the experience of my own broken limbs...
Commonsense things like extreme swelling of the area that took the injury is the best sign(in my opinion).
A broken limb of any kind is painful enough to let most people know; however, I have had a broken wrist and later a foot that, although painful at the time, could and were mistaken for less serious injuries. Listen to your instinct and your body!
Pain is relative, some people are more sensitive to it than others, if in doubt, always have it checked out by someone who is trained in medicine. I tend to ask questions first, but when something in your body is giving you serious pain, it is best to seek treatment ASAP. For some people, that means running to an emergency room, to others, applying ice/heat to the injury before running to a professional is enough to ease the situation and allow healing to begin.
Some would advise overreaction and emergency treatment in this age of knee jerk overcaution.
Again; look and feel for extreme swelling, most of the time(in my experience)this will let you know how serious the injury is. If you cannot afford a huge, and possibly unnecessary medical bill(i can hear the groans from medical people and others) give it some time, you can determine when it is serious or something that will heal with your own care and in your body's own good time. There is alot of personal satisfaction and empowerment in knowing your body and how to take care of your own injuries when possible. There is great info determining symptoms on the web. search: broken leg.
No matter what you decide, drink lots of good water and I have found that Vit-C helps the body heal in many ways...
If it's broken, you'll know it. Excruciating pain. It may also be bent at an angle.
An X-Ray would be the way to go hands down.
If it's bending in a direction it's not supose to and you are in a lot of pain, then it's probably broken. But since your here and asking this question I'm gonna bet that's not the case.
I have never broken a leg but I have fractured both my wrists. When it happend, my wrists got real stiff and sore and they started to swell and I couldn't put any weight on them. Depending on the severness of the break of fracture and where it is located on your leg, it could hurt a lot or just a little when your sit.Hope that helps.
oh, u would no if it was broken or not.. u will hear it pop when u fall or crash or whatever..
no it could not hurt but not that bad...
yes, it would hurt when u sit. stand.. or lay down..
maybe it is a nerve that hurts not a bone.
It depends on the fracture.
If a break is all the way through or a compound, you would know. You would not be able to walk. The pain would be excrutiating.
I fractured my femur once (thigh bone). It was the worst pain.
If you had a hairline fracture or a crack, you might not be able to tell. That type of fracture is not all the way through the bone.
Any broken bone would hurt no matter what position you were in. It's not just the pressure on the bone that makes it hurt. Sitting won't really help it.
If you think you have a fracture, you need to see a doctor for x-rays and treatment.
