I have a black eye...?

Question: I got hit with a softball.
It isn't bad..just the lower part of part of my eye but it is still bruised and stuff.
my dad is a boxer and he has had his share of black eyes and he told me to get cold spoons and rub the blood away from my eye...so i have been doing that.
is there anything else i can do...or buy to make it go down faster ?

p.s. i got my black eye on saturday.

the only thing i can suggest is put some ice on it and don't refrain from touching it.
