Is it normal to have blurred vision after getting a black eye?

Question:
This is my first black eye ever... I got hit in the eye with a tennis ball two days ago and it was swollen shut for the past two days. I've been using ice, but it still hurts and now that I can open it the vision is very blurred and I can't really see anything. Is this normal for a black eye or do I need to see a doctor? I seriously can't see and its starting to freak me out. I haven't told anyone this yet because I just woke up.

Answers:
No, this is not normal at all. After I got a black eye, the area of my eye that made contact with the object was sore and swollen but my sight and vision was not blurred.

I suggest that you go see a doctor as soon as possible, so you can explain your situation and allow them to examine you. This way, they can treat you and provide any other assistance that may prove beneficial to you. Especially since you've tried to relieve the blurring with ice and that hasn't worked.

This is not a condition that you should continue to wait for and allow to heal on its own any longer, as two weeks is a long time to have blurred vision. This is also not something that anyone here on YouQA.com can definitively answer for you as we do not know your past medical history and other necessary information to make an informed diagnosis. Therefore, I recommend that you report to a qualified license doctor in your area as soon as possible for a checkup.

The benefits and financial cost far outweigh the risk and damage if something is severely wrong. I wish you well and expect to hear a follow-up of your condition.
