IMO, it is a big waste of electricity. Are you seriously going to need the lights on when you are asleep? No. If you feel that you need them on to Go to sleep, try installing one with a timer.

No it's not bad to sleep with the lights on. But try turning them off and you will realize that you will fall to sleep more faster.
use a nightlight so the whole room isn't lit up. i use one and it helps me .
