I need to know what this sore is on my daughters ankle..?

Question:

im going to take her to the emergency room when my friend gets off work but until then i was wondering if anyone knows what it could be. it looks like a cut on her ankle and her ankle is swollen but what i cant figure out is it looks like some kind of worm under her skin right by the cut. its not round and i think she could have gotten it when we went into the woods a few days ago. if anyone knows what this could be please let me know!

If you think it is an emergency, you should find a way to go now. An emergency with a cut would usually involve heavy bleeding or signs of blood poisoning (red streaks running up her leg). Otherwise, you should call a doctor and explain the situation. If you are sure you are seeing something living in there, it could possibly be maggots which can result when flies lay eggs in open wounds. (Especially possible if it took a while for you to get out of the woods and clean the cut.)

Could be scabies. Google it for a picture. That is extremely contagious so be careful. Good luck, I hope she is ok.

It could be just a scratch or cut that is getting infected. Either way you are making the right choice in taking her to the ER.

you should take her to a dr who can make sure the er is for ermergency and is over crowded with non emg patients which is why hospitials are closing ers
