Pinched fingertip, have dark spot...?

Question:
My fingertip got pinched pretty hard and that area turned slightly dark/purple/red. It looks like it almost broke skin, not enough to let blood out. So I figure that there is no need to cut it. It's kinda swollen but not really that noticable.

Should I do anything to it or let it heal itself.

Answers:
The best thing for you to do is to leave it alone. You have probley bruised the skin and tissue underneath your skin. There is no need to worry, it will heal it self. I have had the same problem and it took a while to heal. Try not to mess with it because you can cause an infection or pro-long the healing process. Cutting it is out of the question. Trust me. Underneath your skin you have many white blood cells tha sit deep in your pore's, the white cells will eventually come together and built new fresh tissue. Try to keep a band aid on it and keep it clean with peroxide, try not to use alcohol, because alcohol kills good bacteria that makes white blood cells, and can make your healing process will hurt more, and takes a lot longer. Have you ever banged your finger nail and underneath you finger nail it turned purple or blue, and it eventually healed? well the same will happen underneath your skin in your finger.
good luck!
Let it heal itself. It's called a blood blister. It's similar to a blister, but blood had seeped into it.
You got yourself a Blood Blister...there ugly but harmless..don't worry.
It's a blood blister. Just leave it alone. Popping it increases the risk of infection
no, it's an under the skin blood blister. stick it with a needle (sterilized) and drain the blood immediately
it ruptured a blood vessel and it is a bruise. it will go away when your fingernail grows out.
It's fine. It's what we always called a blood blister. The blood is dead and will eventually be absorbed by the body like the dead blood of a bruise. It will be sore for a few days. If it keeps bleeding, then you probably need to visit a doctor, otherwise it should be fine. The swelling is probably from the injury. Ice will help that and to stop any internal bleeding. Just watch to make sure there is no infection or gangrene develops, but we've never had that to happen.
