I just torn my PCL (detached from the bone) what do i do? PLEASE HELP!!?

Question:
im leaving in les than a week for college wear i was supposed to play football, the doc said i need surgery when shood i have it how longs recover, when will i be back on the field

Answers:
Seek a second opinion...there have been high level athletes who have played with a torn PCL. If you get other docs to tell you to do the surgery then go with it ASAP and begin the rehab. It will take you 6 months to get back on the field and 1-2 yrs to be 100%.
It will be at least a year before you could play again, if at all. Have the surgery ASAP.
I would have it done right away, and use the recovery time to take some remedial English classes.
Go to the hospital and seek medical help. This could help you in the long run rather than getting your knee all messed up.
Bob I agree with the others.you need to have the surgery. PCL are a little trickers than ACL. They are also harder to tear. I realize that you want to play (now). If you play the chance of ripping your acl is greater.remember culpepper I believe he ripped both of them. You can always redshirt and still have 4 years of playing. (make them 4 good years) not one bad year. as far as recovering it depends on you 3 months to a year (probably forget about this season)
