I was digging about a month ago, ever since i've had a niggling little pain in my back below my shoulder blade
Question:
Answers:
I am of the opinion that you have strained your rhomboid muscle whilst digging.
The Rhomboids are small muscles in the back
just at the bottom of the shoulder blade . It is a thin muscle which does a lot of work and is easily damaged. I have added the following web address which may be of help to you It has exercises which may be of use.
If you google Rhomboid exercise you will find the page too

I was talking a shower, twisted to get some shampoo, and then YIKES, a huge pinch just below my shoulder blade.
DOn't kid yourself, this wasn't minor. I walked around, hunched over like quasimodo, with Ice packs for like a month,
in excruciating pain. Try getting some of that robacet stuff, you know the dancing puppet back medication...only NOT that exactly. Just ask the pharmacist for the no-name robaxacet with codeine. In Canada you don't need a prescription, but its not on the open shelves...try it for a week, if no improvement
seee your doctor. This stuff has a muscle relaxant and the codiene for the pain. It works very well.
How old are you? Male? Female? Right or left shoulder? Other medical problems? Think anatomy--in that area, you have muscle, bone, tendon, vasculature, nerves. Some pain is referred from deeper parts of the body. My best *guess* is that you sprained a muscle or have tendinitis but that is a TOTAL guess without a better physical exam/review of systems/history. You really should see a health care provider in the event this could be something more serious. If the scary stuff is ruled out (I am not even going to list them here to save you the stress) you can develop an appropriate treatment plan. If the pins/needles//tingling gets worse, or if you develop weakness/numbness, worsening back/chest pain or any other concerns, go to an emergency department promptly.
