It's probably not arthritis. Osteoarthritis often affects middle-age and older people. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints. It usually last for years.
What is happening to you here could be strained knee ligaments and/or muscles, torn cartilage or tendonitis. Doctor will do some diagnostic tests like X-rays, MRI, CT, or a simple Knee reflex exam to determine the cause.

I would talk to your doctor i had the same problem and it turned out to be something that made me not able to run, jump, or a lot of athletic stuff.
