What do u do if your incisions are bleeding?

Question:
my brother just had his gall bladder removed and he has had 5 incisions in his stomach. one of them is bleeding (i dont wanna see). for some reason my parents aren't taking him to the hospital. what can we do without professional medical care?

Answers:
Dab with Hydrogen Peroxide to keep incision from getting infected. Than dab on antibiotic ointment to keep the skin hydrated so it will heal properly.
You need to see a doctor right away it might have broken the a stitch.
Pack it with a sterile gauze and apply direct pressure. Seek consult from your surgeon. A little bleeding, like drops, is ok. But 1/2 a tsp or so needs immediate attention. Infection could be a problem even if bleeding is not severe as blood is an incubator for many organisms
I wouldn't worry about it. If there's not a lot of blood it's probably just seeping. I had knee surgery two years ago and started bleeding, when my mom called the doc for me he said "it's better the blood come out, then be inside forming a clot." As long as there's not a ton of blood (which i assume there isn't if your parents aren't rushing him to the ER) then he's okay, just keep it clean with a little peroxide. Hope this helps. :-)
Go get some help. You dont wanna risk it.
It depends on how much they are bleeding. If it's just a little, he's probably o.k. You need to check if the wound is red, swollen, or warm. That could mean there's an infection. He might have a little normal bleeding if he moves too fast, or pulls on the stitches. If it's still bleeding in a few hours, you should take him in to be seen.
it's okay for it to seep a little bit. but if it's bright red blood? that's probably not good. it would mean that things are not as "stuck together" as they should be. if it is bright red and is more than a teaspoon's worth they should call the surgeon. there are call centers to contact them, even on off-hours.

IF the incision is actually opening up it needs to be "reattached." the doctor should do this, especially because it was such a serious surgery. sometimes they do certain sutures to make the scar look good later (but they can open pretty easily) so make sure it doesn't have a gap in the incision site.
