Very bad back pain?

Question:

my husband is having very bad back pain in his upper left side just below the shoulder and it travels half way down his back and goes around to the left side of his chest, doctor said its a nerve but what can be done he went to therapy but nothing seems to be helping, any advice

When I first read this I thought it was a heart attack. But I guess not if the doctor says not. If it's a pinched nerve, a physiotherapist might be able to help.

Go to a pain specialist they may be able to give him a shot to calm the nerve.

Well it could be many things but a single nerve in the back I don't think so. It sounds more serious having chest issues and shooting pain down the back. I have recently gone through major neck surgery caused by an accident and had very similar pains. I had a disk in my neck that was ruptured in the c4-c7 vertebrates. Even though the issue was in my neck, my back and hole body had paid and related problems. After MRI'S and CT scan they found the underlying issue in my neck. I t took 2 years after my accident to discover the issue at hand. I went though chiropractic services for a year and therapy for another year along with pain care specialist until the neuro surgeon told me what was the real issue. I suggest the best Doctor to take this problem to. Do not let these other Doctors and such treat you with out knowing what the real issue is. Your pain can originate from any where in your back so be careful. It could be your vibrates, lumbar or thorax spinal cord bones. It can be a splinter of one off these bones that is pinching your central nerve system, which means surgery for sure. Working with Doctors to manipulate the bones using pressure points and other chiro techniques will just delay the problem and most likely make it worse. These doctors want you to become reliant on them seeing them many times a month or monthly ect. After my surgery, I have seen my Surgeon Doctor only 2 other times and I am feeling great. Please consider going directly to a Nero surgeon and bi-pass the others that have no idea about the central nervous system. Also please consider having better technology testing such as MRI and CT scans. For pain in the mean try Botox shots, they truly help. Insurance will only cover one or two shots a year. Drugs hide the problem at hand and addiction is very possible if taken long periods. You do not want this trust me it took me time and I had with draws from stopping them. I hope this helps and I truly hope you do not have any serious problems.
