I've pulled a muscle on my lower right leg, just underneath the calf, what do I do to heal faster?

Question:
I just did a 40 minute run and pulled a muscle, what can I do for it to get better faster?

All I've done is put ice on it..

Answers:
I don't know what level of fitness you are at. For mild to minor strains, most athletes ice it for the first 3-4 days for 20min on at least 3 times a day, with the injured leg ABOVE the heart level. After that, on the 4-5th day, alternate icing and moderate heat for same duration and frequency; 20 min icing, 20 minutes mild heat at least 3 times a day, stretching the muscle as far as you can without hurting it afterwards. The second week, mostly heat, stretching, and mild exercise of muscle area. Following weeks, lotsa stretching and strength exercises.

Always stretch well before you run, drink enough water to keep hydrated, and eat a balanced healthy diet.

Happy running.
stay off it. it will heal shortly
putting ice on it is good, keeps any swelling there might be down, stay off of it as much as you can...
