Why won't my cut heal?

Question:
I went to flop down on my couch and missed and hit the floor pretty hard and now i have this cut on my tailbone area that hasnt healed for over 2 years it bleeds and yellowish stuff comes out. i get it to heal alittle but if i sit down wrong it opens back up and i go through the same thing all over again but now it wont heal and it keeps bleeding and the yellowish stuff comes out.

Answers:
Yellowish stuff isn't normal, nor is a wound that won't heal. You need to see a physician, and soon. The area of the wound you describe is in a tough place to heal, anyway, and it's a very good breeding ground for bacteria (warm, moist, and dark). If there is a bump containing fluid even when the skin isn't broken, it's still a big deal and needs looked at.

While you're waiting to get to the doctor, keep the area as clean and dry as possible, and while you're asleep, let the air get to it. I know it's a hard spot to see and monitor without the aid of a mirror, but two years of a nonhealing wound is a really big deal, but not necessarily something to freak out over. Like I said, it's a bad spot for an injury of any kind, and you're getting friction externally (from clothing and movement) and the inside (from the muscles and maybe some bone).

When you speak to your doc, also mention if or if not you have any other slow-healing wounds, too. They might take a swab of the area and send it for culture to see what is making the yellow goop coming out of the wound. You might be placed on antibiotics and given a referral to someone who can repair the wound.

Take care.
Ummm. that sounds like a serious problem you got there I suggest you go to the doctor and get that check out right away.
Hope you feel better :).
SEE A DOCTOR!! even on a hard to heal place like a joint or part of the body that gets banged a lot 2 YEARS is way too long for something to heal. You could have a medical condition that is making it harder for you to heal... do other cuts heal slowly too/? or you could have an infection
I am no expert or doctor but I am pretty sure that is not normal, I know that if you bruise your tailbone really badly it can take years and years before it is ever completely gone, but as far as it bleeding and having yellowish discharge, I think you should consult your doctor on this.
HI there,

This is a serious problem. It is not normal for the body to not be able to heal quickly. The yellowish substance you are referring to is actually a mixture of the plasma of blood, white blood cells, and clotting agents. This is good to see, but if it is seeping out at a rate at which it can not coagulate, then this is not good. I suggest visiting a doctor to get dissolvable stiches to seal the wound shut so that it has a chance to clot.

Hope this helps, best of luck.

You did not mention your age, the size of the injury, or any pre-existing medical conditions. However from your description, it sounds like you have a chronic infection over your sacrum. This has been difficult to heal because it is over a pressure point every time you sit down. Because the infection has not healed properly, judging by the description of pus draining out, the overlying tissue will open up. You should go see your doctor who can do a thorough examination of the wound. The physician may wash it out with sterile solution and do what's called wet to dry packing, meaning they put sterile packing into the wound to keep it open so the underlying tissue will have a chance to heal and allow the wound to stay dry and free of pus. This is usually the best way for soft tissue wounds to heal. He or she may also check to make sure you don't have any more serious medical conditions, like diabetes or enterocutaneous fistula causing a persistent infection.
Hi,
By your description it seems that granulation tissue has formed in the wound. This is not allowing the wound to heal properly and breaks out as soon as irritated. You need to consult a surgeon to get the granulation tissue removed and allow secondary healing of the wound.

have you seriously not seen a doctor about this? you're telling me you've had an active wound for 2 years that bleeds and has puss ('yellowish stuff') coming out..and this reopens often? seriously.go to a doctor. you could have some type of bacterial infection causing the wound to tunnel or something. get to a doctor.
