How do I get sand out of an open blister?

Question:
I got a blister that opened while on the beach, and sand got inside. I've drained the blister but the sand remains inside. Should I cut off the outer skin and bandage it with alcohol & Neosporin, since I read that I should keep it on? How can I get the sand out?

Answers:
I'm a runner and a surfer, this happens to me all the time.

Sometimes if the blister is big, I cut the outside skin and throw a bandaid on.

But if you leave it how it is and let your body run the course the sand is relatively harmless and the skin over it will harden and peel off on it's own. But if it makes you feel better I would cut the outer skin. However, if it's on a sensitive place you might want to leave it how it is so you don't expose your raw skin to a place that is going to be contacted a lot.
use a scouring pad.
wash and wash and wash and wash and wash
Soak your foot in warm sudsy water to keep clean. Eventually the sand will float out. Dab on antibiotic ointment, cover with a band-aid, and stay off yor feet if you can. Soak for a good hour if you have nothing to do, or do it before you go to bed. You'll be sure to stay off your foot that way !
