Why would anyone want to sleep less? If you consistently sleep 8 to 10 hours a day, that's probably exactly how much sleep your body requires. Maybe the reason you want to sleep less is to get more done during the day. Why don't you look for different ways to maximize your time during the day rather than reducing your sleep?

If you can stand it, sleep with your curtains open. The natural light should help wake you up. It also helps if you get on a regular sleeping schedule. Try going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. When my schedule gets off, I find myself sleeping way too much.
