You have to qualify for it. Which means you have to apply for it. Which means you'll benefit greatly from a social worker to help you through the process. If you are visiting a hospital, they can give you all the forms and usually help you fill them out. I would start there. Depending on the state you live in, the application can be fairly easy, but it just needs to be done and mailed and signed. You have no idea how many Mcaid apps get rejected because the applicant forgot to sign it. Good luck!

If you are an illegal Mexican, it is automatic. If not, it is a little harder to suck off of the system but I have confidence in you.
