My wound is getting a yellowish colour?
Question:
first it secreted some sort of a mucus on it, for a while, and it took a total of about 2 days to close (it finally closed today)
but it also started turning yellowish
I think it's an infection.
what do I do?
Answers:
Use Germ-x to clean out and dry the yellow pus. Germ-x is available at Wal-Mart. When my daughter had an infection, germ-x opened it up and cleaned out the pus before I could even lance it.
Aloe Vera is supposedly good for healing wounds.
I don't like the antibiotic ointment unless it is used in conjection with something more liquidy like hydrogen peroxide. It doesn't seem moist enough to sink into every crevass. If you do use it, rub it in a bit.
Clean it with mild soap and water and apply an antibiotic ointment or tea tree oil.
clean it with soap and warm water. then use some neosporen and a bandaid clean it and change out the bandaid every day for a while
do u have fever? cos if u do, that's infected for sure...but u dnt have to wait for fever to arise before u treat it...u should have put anti-bacterial cream like bactrin over the wound when it was still fresh...ok dab some betadine solution over the wound to disinfect it and do it everyday...if ur feverish, go to ur doctor so he can prescribe u amoxycillin or cephalexin.
Are you diabetic? If it is closed, and it looks like there may be infection in it, you might want to open it just slightly. Pour some peroxide into it, then apply a triple antibiotic onitment to it. Keep it covered when outside and when dealing with dirt. Other wise I would let the air hit it and help the healing process. Of course if your diabetic it would be wiser to go to the dr. Good luck.
