Does Anyone know how long you have to wear an air cast boot for after ankle fusion ?

Question:
I have been in an aircast boot for 6 weeks and my leg is swelling between the knee and the ankle about 2 weeks now. My doctor does not seem to be concerned about this.

Answers:
I think it depends on the extent of the injury, how quickly you heal, your overall health, age, etc...but I would say about 4-6 weeks. Ask your doctor if you're really concerned.
I had mine on for almost 6 weeks
got it an xray a couple of weeks ago and it has fused perfecrly
I still get so much pain and it happened in october
Ways to decrease swelling...

1. ice your ankle for up to 20 minutes 4-5 times a day.

2. Elevate your ankle over your heart while icing.

3. Have someone massage your ankle toward your knee each day.

4. Wear a compression sock to help control the swelling.

See a physical therapist for guidance on how to function with your new ankle.

If your calf becomes red, hot, or very painful to the touch contact your doctor immediately.
