Taking Klonopin for sleep.?

Question:
This seems to be the only drug that really helps me fall asleep fast and stay asleep. I have had more luck with this drug than ambien or any other sleep pill. I take 2mg at night..I would like someones opinion if this is too high of a dose. I would like to stay on it since it works so great but dont want to get addicted. thanks for your reply.

Answers:
If you think it's the only drug that will help sleep, then your already addicted. Klonopin is very addictive. Most of my patients (psych) that are on it only take 1 mg each night (not just for sleep--for calming effect) Benadryl or melatonin should help just fine. If not, you might have a bigger issue than just having trouble sleeping. Check with your doctor, there are many more sleep aids that aren't as or not addictive.
