I've had one heck of a time with sunburn... will it turn into a tan?
Question:

I'm afraid the only nice thing you will get out of it is some layers of dead skin that will peel off soon. Plus it sounds like you suffered a sun stroke, not so nice.
I personally LOVE self tanners. You can get a nice tan without serious injury or long term skin damage.
it won't tan. It will peel.
you should get a tanned hide.
get plently of cream on and you might be ok
depends on if ur really white like most irish people or u get tan because whenever i burn really bad it turns into brown after a while it should happen to u too
enjoy the tan
I seen a product called 'burn to brown' by Beachcomber budds, but I dont know where to get it, try googling it
good luck
oucheeeeeeeeee
Sunburn is the destruction by severe sun burning of the skin and is very unlikely to turn into a nice bronzed tan,,,,all you do with sunburn is to damage the skin,,,a tan is achieved over time with a gradual build up of length of time in the sun
By the sound of it, you skin will probably peel, revealing a new layer of. . . nontanned skin. If you burn that bad, you are probably of a lighter complexion, and therefore unlikely to tan, especially with that much sun. If you are white, try to do it in very small increments. It will be difficult to not burn, and especially difficult to tan.
Suffering is for naught. You will peel as soon as the pain goes away.
The best way to tan is SLOWLY. Applying a low factor sun screen for the first couple of days then slowly, you can lower the SPF. Getting burnt is just painful, you look weird and then you start shedding all over the place.
Then you go white again!
It really depends on your skin, i got really badly sunburned on my back last year, and after a while it turned to a tan which i still have a year on.
Excuse me . Are you boasting or complaining? I haven't seen much sun to bet that burnt. Joking aside, we've all done it. I think you've paid an unfairly high price though. Just stay hydrated and keep an eye on that bump.
I burn snd igo brown lyk after a couple of days so you should go brown. Sounds nasty! x.x
It will most likely peel off, you have burnt your skin, not taken it slowly as advised which should result in a nice glow or tan, i suggest that you keep on applying the after sun and anything that cools the skin. You most probably had sunstroke, so easy I'm afraid and often results in being very ill, fever, headaches, and sometimes worse, and being laid up for days.
Keep it up with the aftersun honey - and drink plenty of water - more than u usually do !!
Also - Aloe Vera is v good for sun burn.
I find that laying in a cold bath (V Shallow or u cant stand it) also helps with the pain and heat !
Hope u feel better soon
It'll either peel completely and leave white skin or it will tan.
Poor you take care!
Sorry It will just peel. Yes you have got something out of this, you will remember to follow the safe sunbathing rules.
Here's What the Experts Recommend
Avoid the exposure during midday hours (11am-3pm aprox)
Choose a sunscreen with added nutrients apply 30 - 60 minutes be-fore exposure, and reapply often.
Take Vitamins C, D and E, and Beta Carotene along with Selenium, Calcium and Zinc to give your sunscreen a boost and help prevent skin damage. Remember the nutrients that help prevent sunburn, can also help to heal it.
Eat a healthy diet, including plenty of fruits and vegetables. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and flavonoids - all the things needed for healthy skin and good healing.
Drink Green Tea. In a recent study it was shown to be beneficial. Tea can also be applied topically to sooth sunburn.
Your SPF should be be choosen with your skintype in mind.
How can you avoid sun damage?
You can protect your skin by following a few basic rules for your skin type.
Choose one statement from the list below that best describes your skin type. Imagine you are sunbathing in spring for the first time, without wearing any sunscreen.
•Skin type 1: I always burn, I never tan.
•Skin type 2: if I spend an hour in the sun I feel slightly burnt the next day. After seven days I have a slight tan.
•Skin type 3: if I spend an hour in the sun I feel slightly burnt the next day. After seven days I am moderately tanned.
•Skin type 4: I never feel burnt after spending an hour in the sun. After seven days I am very tanned.
All skin types should stay out of the sun at the hottest times of the day (11am-3pm).
Skin type 1
Avoid sunbathing and make sure you cover arms and legs with long shirts etc when out in the summer sun.
You will not get a tan – any attempts will only cause skin damage, which may later develop into cancer.
Fine pale skin does not age as quickly as other skin types. Your tanned friends will get wrinkles long before you do.
Skin type 2
Don't try to tan and take extra care in the sun.
Use a sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF 30) during the peak of the summer season.
Don't use a sunscreen with an SPF lower than 15.
Skin types 3
You should wear a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF 20+).
Don't be tempted to use a sunscreen with an SPF lower than 15, even if you rarely burn.
You are still at risk of developing skin cancer and should take care in the sun.
Skin type 4
Even though your chances of developing skin cancer are less than those of people with skin type 1, 2 or 3, the sun can still damage your skin and cause wrinkles.
You should use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15.
Looked it up because my OH did the same, although he did not pass out he has been ill.
Just keep cool, drink plenty of water/sport drinks, and cover yourself with aftersun care lotions/creams. Look after yourself.
