Tendonitis affecting sleep?
Question:
Answers:
anti-inflammatories are great for tendinitis. Sleep aids dont affect the condition itself, so just make sure to take i think its ibuprofin to help the injury to reduce itself so the pain isn't so great. Ive had tendonitis seriously in my elbows and minor in other joints, and i know how the irritation and pain can get. Also try to find a brace for it. by keeping it a little more stationary at night it can help prevent it from getting agitated by natural movement at night
Ben-Gay does help
at this point if your tendinitis is affecting your sleep you may need to seek help. Physical therapy is the best course of action. this is not a shameless plug, i'm only a student and have nothing to gain from you seeing a physical therapist. continuing to exercise on your ankle may be aggrivating the condition if not making it worse, which is happening if you are waking up in pain at night. I wouldn't stop exercise, but i would modify my exercise to stop any activity that is bothering your ankle. if you're a runner, try running in the pool..this will take the weight off and you still get a great cardio workout. no pool? try a bike. this will help cut the weight going to the ankle. just give your ankle a few weeks rest, ice, ibuprofen, and go see a physical therapist. they can really help identify what it is that is causing your tendinitis and get you back to enjoying your workouts, sleep, and general life activities painfree. oh, one question...do have a special set of shoes to work out in or do you wear one pair for general wear and working out? this could also be a problem and you should look into having a seperate special pair just for workouts. good luck!
