Local anesthesia during Otoplasty?
Question:
Answers:
If you're having sedation and not general anesthesia, you WILL be awake. You just might not remember much. You have to be awake enough to breathe on your own, and support your own airway, and to cooperate with your surgeon.
After the local anesthesia is injected, you'll feel motion and pulling, but no pain. The injection of local burns, but that only lasts a few seconds. If the local wears off, or if the surgeon ventures outside of the numbed area, it will hurt. All you have to do is let your surgeon know, and more local will be injected.
I just anesthetized someone for an otoplasty yesterday, but we did general anesthesia.
I hope all goes well with your procedure.
